Archaeological Museum of Nafplio

The Archaeological Museum of Nafplio is located in the centre of town, on the Syntagma Square. Housed in an old Venetian building constructed in 1713, during the second Venetian reign. The Nafplio archaeological Museum houses finds from sites all around the Argolida county spanning from the early Paleolithic era to the Bronze Age and Mycenaean era. See artifacts from early settlements in the area and the famous 'Dendron Armor' said to be one of the oldest pieces of armor in the world.

Archaeological Museum of Mycenae

Ancient Mycenae is an incredible archaeological site of a once great ancient citadel. The construction of the archaeological Museum of Mycenae began in 1984, was completed in 1997 and was built to fit in with the surrounding archaeological site and geographical position. in 1998 findings from the excavation of the site where brought to complete the exhibition that is split in two levels, the first one consisting of finds from public and private activities of the resident and the other consisting of artifacts from the royal Mycenaean graves also known as beehive tombs.

Folklore Museum

The Folklore Museum in Nafplio was founded in 1974 and is located on King Alexander's street, at the very centre of the Nafplio Old Town. In 1981 the museum was awarded with the European Museum of the Year Main Award (EMYA) and aims to research, study and conservate Greek cultural activity. Today it houses over 27,000 items and two exhibitions, the newly presented exhibition "The Best of PFF" (Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation) and a permanent exhibition named "Hellenic Urbanism: Nafplio 1822-1922" and the new permanent exhibition named "Collections: travel through space and time" which is dedicated to the foundation's collection. War Museum in Nafplio

The building in which the Nafplio War Museum is housed in is the First Hellenic Military Academy of Greece, commonly known as the Evelpidon. The museum opened its doors in November 1988 and is part of the War Museum based in Athens and of which it is the first annexe. The museum offers an interesting look into Greece's past following the involvement of the citizens of Argolida in the Greek Revolution of 1821 up to the liberation from the occupying German forces during World War II, as well as all other lesser known but important histotic events in between. Visit the museum and see the exhibition including army uniforms, firearms and other weapons.

Ouzo Museum

'Komboloi' - Worry Bead Museum

The Komboloi - Worry Bead Museum is housed in a privately owned two-storey building in the Old Town of Nafplio and offers an experience unique to the area, since it is the first and only 'Komboloi' Museum in the world. The Nafplion museum was opened in April 1998 and is run by a couple that have devoted their life to their craft learning and researching worry beads since 1958. Today the collection includes pieces from all over the world, priceless pieces dated between 1700 to 1950 as well as Muslim, Buddhist and Catholic strings and beads gathered in the their travels.

Natural History Museum Ligourio

The Kotsiomiti Natural History Museum was founded in 1993 and is located in Ligourio, a village located around 15 minutes from Nafplio by car. There is no other Natural History Museum close to Nafplio and is an incredible experiences for people and children of all ages. The museum houses a marvelous collection of 6.000 exhibits, mainly minerals and fossils as well as shells and insects etc out of the 22.000 that it possesses. Visit and see fossilised organisms dating back 530.000.000 to 3.000.000 years ago in the museums famous ammonite collection or see fossils and minerals used by earlier men as jewels, amulets, seals and or a means of transaction.

National Art Gallery, Nafplio Department

The National Art Gallery in Nafplio, the Museum of Aleksandros Soutsos is an annexe of the National Art Gallery in Athens and was founded in 2004. The building was donated by the Municipality of Nafplio and was renovated and refurbished by the Public Welfare Institution “Aleksandros S. Onasis” to accommodate the museums exhibitions. The neoclassical building houses an explicit collection of works inspired by the struggle of Greek people (F. Margaritis, Th. Vryzakis, Nik. Gkyzis, Dion. Tsokos, Nik. Lytras a.o.) for their own liberation giving an emphasis to the town's historic character. The purpose of this collection is to commemorate the Greeks heroic deeds in pursuit of their freedom taking away the realism and elevating the struggle to the realm of ideal.

Byzantine Museum of Argos

Housed in the west wing of the Kapodistrias Barracks, a well preserved neoclassical building in the centre of Argos city is the Byzantine Museum of Argolida. The first floor is a permanent exhibition with the first subject being the beggining of the Byzantine empire. The second section follows the transition from antiquity into the Middle Ages and the third section and main focus of the exhibition is Byzantine Argolida, the customs & way of life, the churches and the fortifications of the era.
The building features all necessary infrastructures to facilitate access by people with disabilities (ramps, elevator, information labels and museum guide in Braille).
